F.A.Q.
Welcome to the Homebrew Wiki's FAQ page! If you're unfamiliar with the term "FAQ" it is an acronym for "Frequently Asked Questions." Interestingly, "What does FAQ mean" is actually a frequently asked question. With that out of the way, this FAQ page is intended to answer as many frequently asked questions as clearly as possible. If you're here, either you just came for the read or have some sort of problem. Either way, navigation is simple. Just click what you want to read about in the navigation pane. When you're at what you want to read about, make sure to click the "show" button in order to unhide the text.
Homebrew keeps crashing!
First Steps |
---|
Go to your Homebrew Directory (steam/steamapps/common/homebrew vehicle sandbox/hb146_data/), and find the file output_log.txt, open this up and take a look at the first couple of lines. It should look something like this: Initialize engine version: 5.3.4f1 (fdbb5133b820) GfxDevice: creating device client; threaded=1 Direct3D: Version: Direct3D 11.0 [level 11.0] Renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (ID=0x13c2) Vendor: NVIDIA VRAM: 3072 MB Look through this file, if a certain error code is being duplicated over and over again at the end of the file, That's probably your problem! |
Intel HD |
---|
Make sure the Renderer is NOT an intelHD card! We've encountered numerous issues with them, and have yet found a fix for them. If this is an intelHD card, and you have a dedicated GPU in your system, Open up your Nvidia control panel, and make a custom profile for Homebrew, Also try setting your settings to "Performance", instead of battery saving. Some laptops tend to underpower their GPU's a ton when not in the performance mode. |
Others |
---|
If all else fails, head over to the steam forums, or discord and post about it! We would love it if you'd include your output log, if you're on steam, wrap the file inside a "

" block, this will make it a LOT more readable and helpful for us. If the file is too big, you can always paste the contents inside of Hastebin, press the save button, and copy-paste the URL inside of the post! |
Controls
How do I disconnect a part in the builder? |
---|
Select your weld tool and press the middle mouse button on the blue discs, this will disconnect everything connected to that part! |
I don't have a middle mouse button! |
---|
Currently, you can't rebind the key bind yet, but this will be available in the future. For now, the workaround would be running an autoit/autohotkey script to bind another button to your middle mouse button. The script for accomplishing this in autoit is quite simple, First, you'll need to download autoit, which can be found HERE Next, you'll need to copy this script, and paste it in a new file with the AU3 extension! (something like middlemousebutton.au3) #include <misc.au3> ;This has the HotKeySet function, which makes this whole thing a lot easier! HotKeySet("{5}",MMB) ;This will use the 5 key on your keyboard to simulate the mmb, you can use practically any key like so -> {b}, {g}, {5}, {F5}, etc. While 1 Sleep(100) ;This keeps the script running UNTIL you close it in the taskbar! WEnd Func MMB() MouseClick("Middle");Sends the Middle mouse button! EndFunc Then you can just double click on the script, and it should launch automatically. This will make a little icon appear in your task-bar, you can close/stop the script by right-clicking that, and selecting EXIT |
I'm getting weird inputs (random camera movement, strafing, walking, etc) |
---|
We use DirectInput to fetch all kinds of input from your computer if you have a steering wheel, or flight stick connected, it might be detected as the first controller. If these are not centered, they'll give you random input! If this is the case, you can simply disable the joystick controls in Homebrew by going to the keybinds, and double-clicking the secondary movement keys, these are all dedicated for controller input! You can also just unplug the controller. If it's not a controller, it might be a controller emulator (like vJoy/pJoy). You can simply disable the controls in homebrew, same as before. |
I'm not getting any input at all! |
---|
We depend on the DirectX library for our input, Steam should automatically install these dependencies before the first launch, but this can sometimes bug out.
You can always install them manually, you'll specifically need the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) |

Where could I go to suggest a new part or idea for your game? |
---|
Just make a post on the steam forums, or discord, we'll be sure to reply! :D |
Those people in general chat won't shut up! |
---|
Well sir, you have 3 options. First, you may kindly ask them to please shut up. Second, you can just ignore them. Or third, you change the in-game chat to only be visible while typing. This is done through a gameplay settings option in-game. |
Where are Joe and Danny? |

Don't see your question? |

Either Make a post on the steam forums or visit the Wiki-Channel on discord. Suggest your question there and it will be reviewed by wiki staff and potentially added to this list. |
