Fuel Tanks

In HB14 there are several different sizes of fuel tanks. From large fuel tanks you dimension yourself, to convenient fuel tanks incorporated within other parts. Fuel Tanks can send other parts fuel at an infinite rate, as long as the fuel tank has enough to give it. If fuel tanks are connected in series, a fuel tank will always ask for as much fuel as it is missing. Fuel can be sent through chains of fuel tanks like this in order to use multiple tanks to fuel the same part. Alternatively, several fuel tanks can be connected to the same part and they will split the load.

Notes on fuel

All fuel tanks share several common properties. First off, fuel has weight. Each fuel tank will increase in weight based on how much fuel it contains. In Homebrew, fuel weighs 0.75kg per liter. This means that a tank with 1000 liters will weigh 750kg, on top of the empty tank's weight.

Furthermore, whenever a fuel tank has the infinite fuel option on, it will always have the same weight as the full tank. The tank just simply doesn't deplete.

Types of Fuel Tanks

Adjustable fuel tank.png Adjustable Fuel Tank

A fuel tank that can be sized according to the player's preference. As the tank becomes larger, it contains more fuel, at the cost of also weighing more.

Statistics
  • Fuel volume - The maximum fuel storage of the tank is calculated as (volume * 1000 = X Liters), where volume is in cubic meters.
  • Mass - The mass varies based on size and fuel volume.
Inputs
  • Fuel - Connects engines and thrusters to fuel tanks.
Properties
  • Infinite Fuel - When this option is checked, the fuel tank's fuel will never deplete. However, it will always weigh as much as a full tank.
Outputs
  • Fuel - Connects engines and thrusters to fuel tanks.
  • Liters Left - Exports the amount of remaining liters of fuel.
  • Liters Rate - Exports how fast fuel is being depleted from the fuel tank in Liters per hour (L/h).

These fuel tanks are contained within another part and are not their own part. They're built right into the Su34 Wing.

Statistics
  • Contains 750 Liters of fuel.

Statistics
  • Contains 17 Liters of fuel.
